Mövenpick Resort

Hotel Description:
Nestled on its own arcadian island on the Nile in colourful Nubia, a five-minute boat ride from the centre of Aswan is a photographer’s and bird watchers delight. Nearby Kitchener’s Island is the setting for mature botanical gardens, with species from all points of the globe, and a 180 degree turn of the head will bring the tombs of the Nobles into view.

The Mövenpick Resort Aswan is unparalleled as a base to absorb Nubian culture or to visit the monumental works of the ancient and modern Egyptians at Abu Simbel, the Aswan High Dam and Lake Nasser. Aswan must be the most attractive city in Egypt, perched as it is on the banks and hills lining the Nile as it makes its way through large granite outcrops found along this stretch of the river. These are the famous Nile cataracts, which made navigation on the river difficult and resulted in Aswan becoming a strategic gateway to the trading routes of the south, and a fortress against invasion.

Hotel Accommodation:
Its 230 newly-renovated rooms offer luxurious comfort combined with the warm colours and unique design of Nubian art and architecture. You will enjoy stunning views of the River Nile from the balconies of 96 standard rooms while an additional 45 standard rooms and 39 superior rooms, located in the new ‘Nile Wing’. Keeping you and your families in mind, we offer 38 spacious duplex suites each with its own terrace leading to the gardens, in addition to 4 deluxe villas with 2 bedrooms and 4 royal villas. All rooms, suites and villas are equipped with air-conditioning, direct-dial phone, internet access, satellite TV, mini-bar, in-room safe, hairdryer and a cosmetic mirror. To slake your hunger and quench your thirst, in-room dining is available round the clock.

Hotel Facilities:

For fun and glamour, there is the Lounge Bar, stylish and spacious, recently renovated with 120 seats and a billiard table to add an exciting and competitive atmosphere; also other games, a small library and a wide screen television are available. For a magnificent experience while relaxing with friends, the bar overlooks the River Nile and the glittering city of Aswan at night. The main restaurant, Orangerie, with a total seating of 240 includes an open show kitchen concept where guests can watch the chefs in action for an enticing dining experience. Adding to the ambience, the views are simply breathtaking; sit back and enjoy the views of the gardens, the pool, the River Nile and the glorious city of Aswan. Alternatively, there is the spectacular Panorama Bar, a place that brings friends together in a truly stunning environment on top of the tower on the 13th floor with a 360º view over the Nile, the dunes, the nearby islands and the ancient city of Aswan.

Witnessing sunset over the dunes and the Nile on Elephantine Island is the perfect end to a relaxed day on and around the river. Within the resort premises there are a number of different activities for you. Indulge your senses in the soothing waters of the large infinity pool, surrounded by gardens bordering the River Nile, filling your day with relaxation. Visit temples, tombs, statues and so many other wonders that will keep your mind busy with the greatness of how the world once was. The traditional feluccas loaded with tourists, add their own charm to the scenery as they gently sail between the numerous islands spread along the river. Some of these islands are well worth a visit with a museum of antiquities, a “Nilometer” at the southern end of Elephantine Island, the largest of them all, and the famous botanical garden on Kitchener’s Island just a stone’s throw to the west of the Resort. While you are here you definitely owe it to yourself to take a felucca ride on the river. There are some minor excavated remains from Pharaonic times on some of the islands in the river, including a small but ancient step pyramid and a temple dedicated to the ramheaded god Khnum, whose worship was centred on Elephantine Island.

One daylit meeting room accommodating up to 120 persons with state-of-the-art equipment and secretarial support is available. Terraces and garden facilities are ideal for special events. With a backdrop of the Nile and West Bank or glittering Aswan, the resort’s outdoor facilities on the terraces or in the garden are ideal for large and themed events, which can be organized for you. Enjoy traditional nights with mouthwatering dishes and a show in a typical Nubian village style.
